Behind The Scenes At The Terre Haute Bowling Center

Behind The Scenes

In Behind The Pinsetters You Will Find 40 Machines All In A Row

With Step-Ups Between Each Pair So Our Mechanics Can Maintain

&

Repair Any Machine Needing Attention.

Did You Know That The TERRE HAUTE BOWLING CENTER

Has In It's Employ 3 Full Time Mechanics?

As We Climb Onto The Pinsetters You Can See Better The

Access Between Each Pair, Along with The Double Rows

Of Lighting, Our Mechanics Have Easy Access To The

Pinsetters As Well As Great Visibility In Order To Work On Them.

Running Brunswick A-2 Pinsetters The First Thing We See Is

The Only Driving Force Behind Our Machines.

One Motor Is All That Powers Our Pinsetters, Each Motor Is Powered

By 208 Volts Of Electricity.

The Motor Powers The Pinsetter Gearbox Assembly,

As You Can See It Is Very Large, and Covered With Levers, Latches & Linkages, The Gearbox Is The Heart Of The Machine.

The Motor Also Powers The Elevator Section Of The Pinsetter.

The Brain Of The Pinsetter Is Called The DETECTOR,

( it is on the left side of the picture with the

blue switch attached to it)

It Is In Charge Of Every Function The Pinsetter Goes Through.

This Is The Detector Outside Of The Pinsetter.

It Decides Exactly What To Do When You Get A Strike, Spare,

Or Should You Have An Out-Of-Range Pin, It Even Knows What

To Do For That.

The Elevator Section Of The Pinsetter Is Comprised Of
3 Main Sections.

Pinwheel - Ball wheel & Cross-Conveyor Each Section

Working To Remove The Pins & Your Ball Ball From The Pit Area

Of The Machine After You Throw Your Ball.

Your Ball Being Picked Up By

The Ball wheel & The Rubber Ball Lift Rods,

Is Lifted & Set On The Ball Track To Be Returned To You,

Via... Subway Ball Track.

Once Your Ball Has Been Set Onto The Ball Track It Is

Sent Through Ball Accelerator Where It's Speed Is Increased

So You Receive Your Ball By The Time The Machine Has

Completed It's Cycle.

The Pins, After Being Picked Up By The Pinwheel,

Are Transferred To The Cross-Conveyor Where They Are Sent To Turret Assembly By Means Of Two Belts.

The Turret Assembly Is Where It Gathers & Holds 10 Pins

Until The Deck Down Below Is Ready For Them To Be Dropped.

Then Eventually Set To The Pin Deck,

Where You Are Able To Throw Your Ball At Them Again.

This Is The Pinsetters Deck, It Holds 10 Pins In It Until The Time Comes

To Set New Pins On The Pin Deck.

The Pinsetters Has Now Completed One Full Cycle,

And Is Now Ready For The Next Frame.

Moving On With Our Tour, There Is One Large Work Bench

Which Was Just Rebuilt After The Flood In 2008 Our Workbench

Is Over 30' In Length & We Also Keep A Large Supply Of Tools On Hand,

It Takes All Of The Space, As Well As The Tools In Order To Keep Our Machines Running To The Best Of Our Ability.

Along With The Tools Needed To Keep Our Pinsetters Running,

It Takes A Vast Number Of Spare Parts In Order To

Maintain The Operation Of The Pinsetters.
